Matthew Shephard? Meet Emmit Till. It’s a huge misunderstanding of the type of horrors that happened to blacks to compare them to the horrors that befall gay people. I can’t claim to be equally informed and outraged about racism as I cam about homophobia, because the racism doesn’t happen to my face all that much. The only reason I believe I don’t have a narrow perspective because I only disagree with the comparison of being black and gay.

Tina Fey et al understand that white gay folks are usually racist as all get out alongside their white straight counterparts. Being oppressed doesn’t mean the mean that the trials and tribulations are the same, they’re very different. Did not go well, but please do not assume this is my advocating the closet .
